The Southwark Listening Project began as a response to COVID and the disruption to children's learning. Whether children were being taught at home or in a school setting, we decided it would be helpful to provide short, easy-to-access information and activities on a weekly basis. And this is how the Project was born.
Each week we send out a simple email attachment to all schools in Southwark. It contains information about a composer or performer, including a link to a performance, and few historical facts about what was going on at the time it was written. These fact sheets have proven very popular with school headteachers and music leads, and we are delighted with the positive feedback we've received!
You can find this week's piece and all previous pieces here.
